How to Solve a Borderline Puzzle

Each puzzle is a map divided into a few dozen shapes, and your job is to fill in every one of them using only four colors. The single rule is that no two shapes sharing a border may end up the same color. Shapes that meet at a single point don't count as sharing a border, so those may match. A handful of shapes are filled in at the start to get you going.

Because most people print these in black and white, every color is also a number. Write 1, 2, 3 or 4 in each shape and the puzzle works exactly the same, or grab four colored pencils and color it in properly. The key printed on each sheet tells you which number goes with which color.

The Large puzzles add two extra rules. Shapes marked with a star are capitals, and all four capitals must be different colors. A diamond sits on a corner where four shapes meet, and those four must all be different colors as well.
